How to change a filter cartridge
Step 1: Turn off the water main or isolation valves (if fitted either side of filter) , Bypass can be opened to maintain supply (if installed) .
Step 2: Using the special service spanner, unscrew the filter housing base.
Step 3: Remove the filter cartridge.
Step 4: Insert the new filter cartridge – make sure it is the correct way up.
Step 5: Inspect O-ring seal and mating surfaces for obstructions or distortion
Step 6: Liberally lubricate O- ring with Plumbers (silicone0 grease and seat in housing groove
Step 7: Replace the housing and tighten securely with a spanner
Step 8: Turn on the water main.
How to refill an ION cartridge
Step 1: Save a small bowel of water.
Step 2: Turn off the water main or isolation valves (if fitted either side of filter) , Bypass can be opened to maintain supply (if installed).
Step 3: Using the special service spanner, unscrew the filter housing base.
Step 4: Remove the filter cartridge.
Step 5: Invert cartridge to open cartridge from bottom (radial holes, not central hole end ) and discard old resin content in general waste bin, use water saved in bowel to rinse cartridge out.
Step 6: Empty contents of 1 of the refill bags and the attached small the polyphos lozenges into the cartridge casing then reassemble cartridge prior to installing.
Step 7: Return cartridge to correct way up (central hole uppermost) and insert the cartridge back in the filter housing.
Step 8: Inspect O-ring seal and mating surfaces for obstructions or distortion.
Step 9: Liberally lubricate O- ring with Plumbers (silicone0 grease and seat in housing groove.
Step 10: Replace the housing and tighten securely with a spanner.
Step 11: Turn on the water main or isolation valves.

As we are saltless, the only maintenance involved is replacing the cartridges as needed. This can be as little as annually.
