Our PureCo products have been set up so you can easily select the right version based on the number of bathrooms you have in your home. Only rooms with a shower or a bath count as a bathroom, so you don’t need to include the WC when counting.

Water filters provide a much more thorough filtration than municipal water providers offer as it travels through a deteriorating network of pipes to your property which can impart pollutants and even lead to your water. An average salt based water softener requires salt, power and regular regeneration. Salt cost per month £12.00, Electricity £1.50 per month and water using 100 litres per regeneration £1.10 = £14.60 or £175.20 per year. There are also unseen costs such as increasing water and sewage bills due to the regeneration process. Using our Aquatiere Pureau 2 saltless water softener as an example, it does not require salt or electricity. It is cartridge based, the Main cartridge which lasts for 36 months and costs £162.44. The annual carbon filters and Ion exchange cartridges costs £193.23 over 3 years. The cost per year is £119.00 , which includes whole house filtration that salt softeners do not offer.

Salt based water softeners require power, drainage and a separate drinking water supply to be fitted. Our Aquatiere Pureau/Purest systems are simply intalled into the incoming main with none of the additional requirements of a salt based softener. You can expect to pay up to 50% less when fitting a Pureau/Purest system.

Step 1 – Activated Carbon

Municipal water companies use harsh chemicals like chlorine and chloramines to treat your water before they send it to your home. Unfortunately, these contaminants can linger in tap water after treatment, and be present in the water you use for drinking, cleaning, and bathing. In fact, the contaminants can even evaporate in shower steam, contaminating the air you breathe. Activated carbon effectively reduces chlorine  — besides improving air quality, removing these contaminants have multiple benefits for your well-being. Activated carbon is also the most popular water filtration media on the market. It’s essentially made up organic material with high carbon content (like wood, coal, or coconut shells). When it’s heated up (in such a way that it doesn’t burn), it results in char. That char is then treated to create a porous material that binds to impurities, pulling them out of the water. Moreover, the Activated carbon method comes recommended by the European Protection Agency (EPA)  to give you that extra layer of protection from a wide variety of contaminants that might still be present in your water supply.

Step 2 – Aquatiere’s Ceramet and Ecosorb

Many water systems suffer from the adverse effects of scale build up leading to equipment failure and high heating bills. Iron in water can cause corrosion and in exptreme cases pipe bursts and leaks. We combat these issues using our advanced blend of active ceramics and our own technically advanced ion exchange resin.

Ceramet is used to aid in the reduction of chlorine and Fluoride and to inhibit the growth of algae and bacteria in the filter whilst removing heavy metals and other contaminants. It achieves this by absorption and ionisation (REDOX) of the contaminants. Ecosorb is used to prevent the formation of hard scale in pipework and equipment. It achieves this by a method called Template Assisted Crystallisation (TAC). Put simply, the calcium and magnesium ions in the water gather on the surface of the TAC media and form tiny hard scale particles that break away in the water flow, these ready formed beads of scale simply pass through the water system. An additional benefit is that they ‘drag off’ existing scale on surfaces eventually ridding systems of existing deposits.

Step 3 

While our post-filter is the smallest part of the process, it’s mighty. Our post filter uses hydrogen-based ion exchange to further improve water quality. It essentially acts as a polishing agent, catching some of the remaining hard scale beads and organic particles that might still be in your water.

All current domestic water systems are compatable with our Pureau water systems. Direct feed hot water systems and those with a combination boiler are the most suitable but the older systems that comprise of a water storage tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard can be treated (with an additional drop in unit for the cold water storage tank).

The minimum recommended water pressure for Aquatiere’s water filter systems is 3 BAR.

Our Pureau range of saltless water softeners are best for hard water areas. The combination of scale control and advanced water filtration makes them the best choice for those suffering from the effects of hard water.

Many people do not like the idea of regularly adding salt to a water softener. Reasons include space for salt storage, regular maintenance, pollution of ground water, they have a septic tank, their boiler manufacturers warranty will be invalid if they fit a salt based softener and they are concerned about ingesting sodium. The government also recommends not installing a salt softener to the tap in your kitchen which is used for drinking and cooking as the increase in sodium can negatively affect some peoples health.

There are major benefits after installing a saltless water softening solution.There is no need for salt storage or regular topping up of the brine tank. It will not produce unnecessary pollution which will effect the ground water and river health. A saltless softening solution does not kill the Aerobic bacteria in a septic tank, will not cause corrosion in boilers, and due to a simpler installation it doesn’t require drinking water isolation, electrics or drainage. A major benefit is it produces filtered water throughout the home, increases the efficiency of the heating system and protects plumbing from corrosion and scale build up.

Salt based water softeners discharge saline solution into our water ways, whilst our Aquatiere systems do not waste water or discharge anything. Our ceramics make great water drainage for your house hold plants or in your garden, so disposal is recycling and reusable rather than landfill or damaging our water ways. 

Yes. Limescale acts as an insulator. For every 1mm of scale, heating efficiency is decreased between 7-10%. Hard water can reduce the efficiency of heating units by up to 50% with 4% loss of efficiency for each 5 grains per gallon of hardness. The impact of limescale on energy bills is significant. The efficiency of the heating element has been decreased and so more energy is required to generate the same level of output, meaning more spending. It has been found that per 50 gallons of hot water there was an estimated 4% increase in cost. A report on water by the UK Ministry of Health found a similar level of impact, reporting that 0.5mm of scale increases fuel costs by 9.4% Aquatiere products have been developed to prevent the formation of limescale and reduce your energy bills

Salt Softeners do not filter out contaminants, unlike our dedicated blends which focus on removing unwanted pollutants and substances, whilst controlling scale in your home.

Our systems create an environment where the minerals present in the water cannot combine to form hard scale layers. Using proven technologies to sequester and fluidise the calcium and magnesium we stop hard scale forming. 

Aquatiere’s products combine Barrer Filtration, Carbon Fibre Filtration, Kinetic Degradation Fluxion, Ionisation and sequestering to remove unwanted particles, take out certain chemicals, reduce mineral formation and stop the scale particles from adhering to surfaces. All of our whole house products such as Pureau and Ecopure products are fully compatible with direct hot water systems. Direct hot water systems tend to run at higher pressure than other systems making them ideal for higher demand larger properties.

Yes, All of our wholehouse water treatment systems are suitable for use on borehole or well water supplying a home. Additional treatment will be required and we recommend a sediment filter as well as a UV unit or UF (Ultra filtration cartridge) to ensure water safety with regards to bacteria and sediment. A popular choice is our Ecopure whole house system combined with a UV or UF filter.

Aquatiere developed its own brand of blended active ceramic media called Ceramet™. The granular media has the ability to remove Flouride and other chemicals including Chlorine, Chloramines, and Nitrates from the water. They also reduce heavy metals including lead, mercury and arsenic. The media also kills waterborne bacteria such as Ecoli, improves taste and odour, increases hydration and produces molecular hydrogen for health.

Aquatiere water systems do not add sodium to the water. They use different ion exchange resins, as opposed to salt based water softeners, that are Hydrogen based. These resins are contained in our water filter cartridges that are replaced periodically when depleted.

Ceramet™ is Aquatiere’s proprietary blend of active ceramic media. Is a natural porous ceramic in sphere form. It contains various minerals and metals and is mixed depending on the water treatment required. Both water softening and water filtration is available within the media mixes. The ceramet granular bed acts like a sand filter. Water flows up through the granular media leaving sediment in the bottom of the filter. As the filter matures, the sediment which comprises of natural lime and ceramic powder increases the filtration potential of the Ceramet bed.

Forever chemicals, also known as PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), are a group of synthetic compounds that have raised significant concerns due to their persistence in the environment and potential health effects. This PFAS exposure can lead to hiigher rates of kidney, prostate, and breast cancer, and is also associated with high cholesterol, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, testicular cancer, kidney cancer, and pregnancy-induced hypertension. There is also concern about the impact on children, as PFAS can be transferred from mother to fetus during pregnancy and through breast milk. Aquatiere’s Filter range removes PFAS including microcopic plasic particles.

You would think that all bottled water is safe, but even spring or mountain sourced water can contain PFAS’s, whilst other manufacturers water has been tested and found to contain high levels of PFAS’s despite their filtration systems and treatments regimes. They can vary in concentration sometimes exceeding safe levels, with no regulations in place to prevent this.

Although chlorine is beneficial in water supplies to prevent diseases such as cholera, dysentery, and typhoid, consuming and bathing chlorinated water is harmful. The risks drink chlorinated water include developping various cancers ( 93% higher than filtered water), reproductive problems, problems with the immune system, and heart attacks. Bathing issues include irritated and dried skin, hair damage, and eye irritation.. Chlorine when in contact with organic compounds in the water supply also produce the harmful by-product Trihalomethanes (THM’S). All Aquatere products target chlorine and remove it from your water.

Trihalomethanes (THMs) are liquid by-products formed when chlorine is used to disinfect water to make it safer to drink. THMs are colorless with a slight chlorine-like scent. These chemicals are called THMs because each contains three halogen molecules: chlorine, bromine or a mixture of chlorine and bromine. THMs are highly carcinogenic, even in small amounts and produce free radicals in the body, which trigger cell damage. Aquatiere combines ion exchange resins with special carbon filters to effectively remove THM’s.

Flouride is very widely used in medicine, dentistry, industry or agriculture and has many benefits. It’s safe when consumed in appropriate amounts. However the overdosing of fluoride possesses a real threat to the human body in the form of acute and chronic poisoning. Although dosing in water supplies is very low, infitration of other fluoride sources from industry and agriculture can pose a risk. Research into claimed health problems such as low IQ scores in children, bone cancer , arthritis and kidney disease from fluoride exposure in water is mixed, and further large, high-quality studies are needed. One way to learn about your local drinking water quality is to read the annual drinking water quality report/consumer confidence report that water suppliers now send out by July 1 of each year. The reports are often sent out with water bills, but they may be sent separately. However it is known that certain contaminants are not removed by your supplier and those include PFAS’s including micro plastics, precsription drugs, hormones, cysts, trihalomethanes, additionally VOC’s and other harmful compounds can enter the plumbing network.
