Granular Activated Carbon Cartridge (GAC)

A filter with granular activated carbon (GAC) is a proven option to remove certain chemicals, particularly organic chemicals, from water. GAC filters also can be used to remove chemicals that give objectionable odours or tastes to water such as hydrogen sulphide (rotten eggs odour) or chlorine.Granular activated carbon is made from raw organic materials (such as coconut shells or coal) that are high in carbon. Heat, in the absence of oxygen, is used to increase (activate) the surface area of the carbon; this is why these filters are sometimes referred to as “charcoal” filters. The activated carbon removes certain chemicals that are dissolved in water passing through a filter containing GAC by trapping (adsorbing) the chemical in the GAC.

It is very important that the type and concentration of contaminants, and average water use, be known in order to determine the correct size and components of the system. All treatment systems require proper installation and periodic maintenance. Eventually, the ability of the GAC to bind and remove chemicals is used up and the GAC needs to be changed. How often the GAC should be changed needs to be based on contaminant levels and water use. While some filters may last for several years if contaminant levels and/or water use are low, higher levels or use may require more frequent change-outs.

Heavy Metals and Lead Removal Cartridge

Heavy Metals can have harmful effects on health as well as interfering with sensitive manufacturing processes. Heavy metal reduction resin specifically targets these contaminants, effectively reducing levels to meet drinking water standards.


Delivering excellent selectivity of heavy metals including zinc, mercury and copper from potable water supplies, this cartridge also provides water softening properties without the sodium dosing usually found with exclusive softening cartridges. It can be combined with other filtration and treatment products for a comprehensive solution.

5 Micron Sediment Capture Cartridge

Our sediment cartridges are manufactured from only FDA-compliant polypropylene with no binders, resins or glues ensuring no leeching into the liquid stream, using melt-blown technology to form their 3D micropore matrices with different fine fibres used to create a strong structure with coarser filtration on the surface and finer filtration on the inner. This gradual reduction in size allows the cartridges to be used where a wide band of pollutant sizes exist. Contaminants such as particles, dirt, debris and rust are removed to provide efficient filtration and excellent service life.

Nitrate Removal Cartridge

Nitrate Removal is essential in rural or agricultural areas, and considered a serious health problem for infants and the elderly. The selective anion resin reduces nitrate levels by exchanging them for harmless chloride ions, meeting drinking water standards. Nitrate often reaches surface and groundwater by runoff from agricultural activities, such as usage in fertiliser. Nitrate removal cartridges can reduce toxic nitrate levels below WHO limits of 50mg/L, exchanging harmful nitrates for chloride ions.

Chloramine Removal Cartridge

In recent years, a growing number of municipalities started adding ammonia to the water supply. Ammonia bonds with chlorine to form chloramines. They are doing this for two reasons. One is because scientific studies suggest chlorine is carcinogenic. The EPA has told water suppliers to reduce the amount of trihalomethanes (disinfection byproducts – the risk of disinfection) in the water supply. They did not, however, mandate the use of chloramines.

The other reason is that adding ammonia changes the chemistry of chlorine so that it continues to serve as a disinfectant. But in its new form the bond holds more strongly and the disinfectant lasts longer. The new chemical is called chloramine. By definition, chloramines are harder to remove than chlorine. Iron Removal Cartridge
